My friend, Tif, gave this recipe to me years ago, and it has become a family favorite. These brownies freeze beautifully, and they stay moist and chocolatey for days.
1 2/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter, melted
Cream together and add the following:
2 T. water
2 t. vanilla
Sift together the following ingredients:
1 1/3 c. flour
3/4 c. cocoa powder
1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients and add 3/4 c. nuts or chocolate chips if you want.
Bake in a greased pan at 350 for 23-25 minutes. They will still look a little gooey; just make sure the edges are good and set.
