3 c. tomato paste
2 T. chili powder
2 t. garlic powder
1 scant T. salt
1 t. cayenne pepper
4 c. water
1 c. apple cider vinegar
½ c. corn syrup, honey or 1/3 c. brown sugar
Combine all ingredients in a large saucepot and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer until thick, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
Taste for seasoning and add more salt, sweetness or spice as desired.
Can (hot water bath method) or freeze until ready to use in enchiladas, casseroles or on tacos, nachos, etc.
